Under the Holy Word of the great Creator, Olodumare, we at Ile Ise
Ejiogbe Ifa Temple opened our doors in March 1999 to invite the
community to be a part of the Ifa Temple’s spiritual mission.
Our spiritual mission is to uplift people to a proper and righteous
relationship with the destiny given to them by Olodumare. Since
that time, many people have answered the call and joined the
Ifa Temple in support of fulfilling our collective destiny.
The mission of the Ile Ise Ejiogbe Ifa Temple (Ifa Temple) is
to establish, build, cultivate, develop and educate an Ifa community of
people with good character and integrity. The name Ile Ise Ejiogbe
Ifa Temple means “the home where men and women work together
to ‘make it done’ under the guidance of Ifa”.
The name and the mission of the Ifa Temple reflect the importance
of both men and women working together as a collective to build
an Ifa community. It also reflects the will of the Great Creator,
Olodumare in that one group cannot be successful without the strength
and support of the other.
Building strong families is a challenge within contemporary society.
Many women have taken on the roles of mother, father, protector,
and nurturer, as well as provider of spiritual and emotional strength
in order to care for their families. The Ifa Temple seeks to strengthen
and uplift worm so they may be able to balance the daily challenges
of life with raising a family.

In traditional
Ifa practice, the roles of men and women are geared toward the
development of families, where marriage and children
are considered blessings of prosperity. Under the guidance of
YeYe Mama
Tunde Awosemo, Chief Priestess of the Ile Ise Ejiogbe Ifa Temple,
women learn how to balance work, motherhood, family, and spirituality.
Similarly, under the leadership of Chief Ifalade Awosemo, men
learn how to develop their spirituality to better support women
and to protect their families.
The Ifa Temple supports and encourages the building of positive
relationships between men and women and the development of supportive
relationships between women. These relationships are not based
upon intimacy, but are built on a foundation of common purpose
and collective support. Members of the Ifa Temple become extended
family to other members. Men provide strong role models to children
to help them develop good character. Women provide emotional and
spiritual support to one another; helping each other build or re-build
their self-esteem and learn the strength and power of working together.
In this fashion, the Ile Ise Ejiogbe Ifa Temple is developing a
community of families where children are cared for, where women
are respected and supported as an integral part of the Ifa Temple,
and where men are seen as fathers, leaders and protectors.
